A decade of community, closing its doors. NPR’s story on Anne Montgomery House, an affordable home for young women run by the Society of the Sacred Heart in Washington, D.C., is a beautiful reminder of what religious communities can offer in cities where rent has priced so many people out. For 10 years, Sister Diane Roche and the Sacred Heart order welcomed young women into a home built on faith, chores, shared meals and lasting friendship. As the house closes, we’re grateful for the witness of women religious like these, quietly building community where it’s needed most.
